Mountain Gahinga Volcano in Mgahinga National Park

Mountain Gahinga Volcano is elevated at 3,474m (11,394 ft) requiring 6 hours to climb. The extinct Volcano is in the Virunga Mountains along the Rwanda and Uganda border situated between Mount Muhabura and Sabinyo Volcanoes. The extinct Volcano is the smallest of all the three with a straight dialect meaning a small pile of stones.

The Volcano includes a Swampy Caldera at the top which is believed to be 180 m (591 ft) wide. Mountain Mgahinga National Park is named after this amazing Mountain Volcano which is one of the 8 Volcanic Mountains of the Mufumbiro ranges which span traversing Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Flora around the Mountain

Mountain Gahinga Volcano has beautiful vegetation coverage of Afro-Montane with Bamboo being the most common type here. The Bamboo around the Mountain acts as a habitat of the rare species of Mountain Gorillas as well as other wildlife species like the Golden Monkeys that can be seen easily due to their orangenated vibrant color.
